Development and Validation of a Cognitive Diagnostic Assessment with Ordered Multiple-Choice Items for Addition of Time

Cognitive Diagnostic Assessment (CDA) is an alternative assessment which can give a clear picture of pupils’ learning process and cognitive structures to education stakeholders so that appropriate instructional strategies be designed tailored needs. Coincide with this function, the Ordered Multiple-Choice (OMC) items were incorporated into CDA developed in study. This paper describes developing validating OMC for assessing attribute mastery on ‘Addition Time’ reports psychometric properties items, model-data fit, reliability overall assessment. The sample study consisted 30 Year Four National School (SK) pupils, 48 National-Type Chinese (SJKC) pupils 12 Tamil (SJKT) Penang state, Malaysia. data was analysed using two measurement models, namely Classical Test Theory Attribute Hierarchy Method (AHM). findings indicated instrument good-quality difficulty high discrimination power. With satisfactory fit AHM, inference made about attributes based their performance valid. found reliable at both level level. Perhaps, could used mathematics classrooms supporting teachers diagnosing strengths weaknesses Time’.
